LJL MÉCANIQUE INC., A PROJECT THAT BECAME BIG

The beginning
of adventure

1993

LJL Mécanique Électrique was born from a joint project between Louison Jalbert and Jacques Lafrenière, in Jacques' garage in Authier, Abitibi-Ouest. These two former mechanics began offering mining equipment reconditioning services in 1993, following layoffs within the underground division of the Selbaie mine.

Moving to Sainte-Germaine-Boulé

1994

Building on their popularity, Louison and Jacques chose to relocate to Sainte-Germaine-Boulé in 1994 to gain access to larger premises. The offices and production workshop are still located there today.

Nouvelle génération, même passion

2007

Growing interest in the company's services has led to new members joining the team, including Gino, Dominic, and Marc Trudel, who took over in 2007 following the retirement of Louison and Jacques. With their knowledge, attentiveness, and hard work, the Trudels continue to uphold the values of transparency and honesty established by the founders.

Our team today

2025

LJL Mécanique now has 230 qualified and carefully selected employees. They work in its workshop or at various mining sites across the country. Their professionalism allows us to strengthen our footprint in the industry every day.

Nos partenaires

PROUD PARTNERS OF THE FIRST NATIONS

Our commitment to supporting the mining industry is boundless, and we are excited to expand our horizons and develop our bonds of trust with Canada's First Nations. In partnership with our ally, Métal Marquis, these enriching relationships have, to date, led to the creation of the joint ventures Nagjuk in Nunavut, Tuugaak in Nunavik, Utaashkinh in Northern Quebec, and Migizi in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

THE MANIK FAMILY

The Manik family is the majority shareholder of Nagjuk. Joe Manik and his children, King, Doreen, and Lundy, are well known in Nunavut communities as they also operate Arctic Traders, a heating and ventilation maintenance company. Nagjuk means "panache" in Inuktitut. This name was coined by Joe and, unsurprisingly, reflects the importance hunting holds within the family!
